How much do your cakes cost?At Melissa Alt Cakes, we're passionate about creating bespoke cakes that are true works of art, each one entirely unique and crafted with the utmost attention to detail. Our pricing structure is based on the number of servings required, as well as the level of design and intricate detail required for each cake. Our tier cakes start at a minimum of $550, while our sculpted cakes begin at a minimum of $850. These prices reflect the exceptional skill and expertise required to produce such outstanding pieces. As we work to bring your vision to life, the price is adjusted according to the amount of time and effort needed to complete the design to the highest standards. We are committed to creating cakes that are not only visually stunning but also absolutely delicious, and we are proud to offer our customers a truly exceptional and unforgettable experience.

How do I order a cake?We are honored you have chosen Melissa Alt Cakes to make the cake of your dreams! To proceed with ordering a cake, head over to the contact page where you can fill out the email form, or send us a direct email to info@melissaaltcakes.com. We will get back to you as quickly as possible where we will proceed to discuss details about the cake and your event.

When should I book my cake?It's never too early to contact us about a cake. We recommend reaching out 4-6 months in advance, but we understand that last-minute events happen. If you're only a couple of weeks or days away from your event, give us a call. We've spent many days and nights making last-minute cakes!

Are cake tastings required to order a cake?Not all cake orders require an in-person design consultation or tasting. Many of our cake orders and designs can be discussed through email or phone meetings. We do not recommend tastings for smaller cakes. However, for wedding cakes, large-scale events, or uniquely customized orders, we offer cake tastings.

Where are your cake tastings/design consultations held? How much do they cost?We do not offer in-person cake tastings, but you can pick them up in Teaneck, NJ or NYC, or we can ship them to you! Melissa offers phone or Zoom design consultations upon request. All of our cakes are baked fresh to order, including tastings. Cake tastings cost $150 for three cake flavors and six buttercream flavors. Each additional flavor is $75. Surcharges apply for cake shipments and second tastings.

Do you deliver?Yes, in fact, many of our unique custom cakes require special delivery and on-site setup. Delivery fees start at $75 per hour and are calculated based on the total distance traveled and the amount of time needed to set up the cake on location. We do offer pickup for smaller cakes upon request. We will package your cake and provide instructions to keep it secure in your car. However, once a cake is out of our care, it is no longer our responsibility.

What is your payment policy?Once all details for your special cake have been discussed and the final designs have been approved, a 50% non-refundable deposit and signed contract are required to secure the date. Two weeks prior to your event, the remaining 50% is due and is also non-refundable. Deposits can be paid by cash, check, Paypal, Zelle, or credit card (with an additional 4% processing fee). If you order a cake within two weeks or less of your event, the full payment is due when the contract is signed and is non-refundable.

Do you make smaller cakes for birthdays and other special events?Yes we do! There is no event too small or too large for us. We believe every celebration requires a beautiful and delicious artistic cake. If you have a specific budget let us know and we will do our best to fit your needs.

I only need to serve a small number of guests but would like to have a customized tall and/or large cake, is this possible?Absolutely! For tiered cakes, we offer the option of having some tiers made of real cake and others made of styrofoam dummies to give the appearance of a larger cake. This is also a great option if you have a smaller budget since the price is lower when less real cake is used. The same goes for sculpted cakes. For example, we can create a large dog sculpture, but only some parts of it will be made of cake. In other areas, we use rice krispies or other food-grade materials covered in fondant or modeling chocolate.
